Just before my holiday away, around Easter actually, I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting these four monsters for an afternoon of family photography. Sian, their gorgeous mum, is my lovely friend as well as a hardcore Studio Matwork and Pilates Teacher at Cobham Pilates.

This was the first time I had met the boys, but it wasn’t a problem – they were all full o’beans and warmed to the camera without hesitation. All in all, a really fun afternoon – despite the, ahem, tears (hey, boys?!)

And a huge Thank You for my Easter Egg !!

I met up with Sarah and Richard for their Engagement Photography Session in London earlier this week, on the first of our very windy days after the recent sun. After a great lunch at the Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich, we went for a walk around the gorgeous architecture of the Naval College.

Unfortunately our session was cut short by a very grizzly woman with a walkie-talkie demanding to know what we were doing. The first mention of the word ‘wedding’ and we were asked to leave due to failure of a “photography permit”. A little harsh, we thought, as the college grounds were rammed full of people taking photographs from all angles, with no interference from Walkie-Talkie-Wanda ! Must have been the big lens :)

Anyhow, no biggie as we were almost done, so we headed off the grounds with smiles and frowns combined.

Here are my faves from the session :

A well earned break!

Well, already it seems like my two-week holiday happened months ago, when in fact I have only been home for about 10 days! But the memory remains. And it was amazing. Two weeks of sun, the rediscovery of a love for SCUBA Diving and, most importantly, no work whatsoever !

This was my first proper “sunny destination” holiday since I started my business, some five years ago, and whilst there it saddened me to think that such a long time had passed without a proper break. Such is the draw and the sense of responsibility for what had been a new business, it’s easy to allow your work-life balance to fall off kilter.

But, I came back with a renewed sense of balance, feeling emotionally refreshed and ready to greet the backlog. In honesty, I feel like I need another holiday to recharge the physical batteries – nitrogen build up from such a large number of dives after such a long break takes its toll !

One of the other things I took a break from was photography – oh, the irony ! That said, there were a few opportunities for some special stuff, and so here, for your viewing delight, is a taster. All of these were taken early on, at Papagayo, the Southern most point of Lanzarote, overlooking the neighbouring island of Fuertaventura.

Anybody who knows me well, knows that I love, love, love clouds and silhouettes … and if they can be mixed, well, all the better:

On the next trip, hopefully later this year, I hope to be doing some underwater photography too !

Well … after a much deserved holiday, comprising a two-week stint of SCUBA Diving in Lanzarote, the British weather called me back to an inbox of work and photographs. I’ll post a few holiday images up soon, but for now I want to share Phillipa and Jason’s Surrey Engagement Shoot with you.

They will be getting married next weekend, and so as the excitement builds, here are some of the images we took right before I went away a few weeks back :

Their venue is just down the road from me and I cannot wait for next Saturday. I hope all your plans come along nicely and look forward to seeing you both very soon!
